Enjoy a chocolate tea and support Young Carers September 1st 2011

As part of our continued partnership with the Avon Gorge Hotel, as their charity of the year, young carers have designed a special chocolate tea which is now on the menu.

For every tea sold £1 will be donated to young carers. So, if you’ve never visited the hotel’s terrace, why not treat yourself to a chocolate tea while looking over at the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Whilst at the hotel you can also pick up one of our postcards. They have been specially designed for visitors to the hotel to send.

The eye-catching postcards, which include artwork by young carers of balloons over Clifton Suspension Bridge, is being distributed by the hotel to people staying there. We hope that visitors will pick up the postcards to send and will also want to make a donation to our work.

Carers Holidays scheme takes first bookings September 1st 2011

The Carers’ Support Centre took its first bookings for Carers Holidays in August 2011. As a special introductory offer the holidays are availableVAT-free in 2011.

Keith Sinclair said “This is a really exciting scheme and the first time that The Carers’ Support Centre has entered into the world of social enterprise. Our aim is to provide much-needed short breaks for carers at an affordable price, while at the same time generating an income which will go back into our organisation so that we can continue providing a range of support services to carers.

In setting up the scheme, the charity was successful in a bid for £305,000 of capital funding from the government’s Social Enterprise Investment Fund.

The Carers' Support Centre Relaunch June 15th 2011

The charity relaunched with a new identity in June 2011. We are now called The Carers' Support Centre and have a new logo, which includes the strapline of "If you care, we care".

Keith Sinclair, Chief Executive of The Carers' Support Centre said that the rationale for the rebrand was to ensure the organisation stays "ahead of the changing times".

Keith said "It is important for us to be able to support as many carers as possible, and we recognise that there are many carers out there who are not in contact with key services. In fact, these 'hidden carers' perhaps do not even identify themselves as carers and we need to do everything we can to reach out to this group of people.

Also, the delivery of health and social care and public services in general are currently going through a period of enormous change and we need to be agile and able to adapt to this new environment. Another reason is that we are regularly confused with the Princes Trust, or are wrongly assumed to be a branch of, and funded by, the national Princess Royal Trust organisation."

"Our new branding aims to make us more easily identifiable and recognisable to carers and those who come into contact with carers."

The charity is still a member of the Princess Royal Trust national network of carers centres.
